Standard versus full-height
A 4-inch splash is the traditional option and uses very little extra material. A full-height slab backsplash behind a range or sink creates a seamless wall of stone and eliminates grout lines entirely, at a higher material cost.
Outlets and switch plates
Full-height stone requires precise outlet cutouts. Horizontal outlet orientation is sometimes worth discussing with your electrician before fabrication.
