Granite and porcelain handle sustained UV exposure well. Most engineered quartz is not recommended outdoors because the resin binder can discolor in direct sunlight. This single decision determines whether the surface still looks right in five years.
Building for Georgia weather
Overhangs, drainage, and grill clearance all need planning. Stone that sits in standing water or against untreated framing will show problems sooner.
Grill and appliance cutouts
Built-in grills, side burners, and access doors each have manufacturer clearance requirements. Have the appliance specs available at templating.
